Present Indefinite Tense

A verb which denotes that some action takes place in present time, it is called Present Indefinite Tense.

Formation:
Subject "+" 1st form of the verb "+" Object; as,

I "+" write "+" a letter.
You "+" go "+" to school.
They "+" play "+" cricket.

Conjugation:

1. I play cricket.

2. We play cricket.

3. You play cricket. (Singular)

4. You play cricket.(Plural)

5. He plays cricket.

6. She plays cricket.

7. It plays cricket.

8. They play cricket.

9. John plays cricket.

10. Boy goes to school.

11. Girl makes tea.

Note:

In Present Indefinite tense "'s'" or "'es'" is added to the first form of the verb. when there is He, she, it, name or singular common noun; as in sentence number 5,6,7,10,11.

Present Indefinite Negative and Interrogative Rule:

Auxiliary verbs play an important role in the formation of all tenses in English.As in Present Indefinite tense there is no any auxiliary verb available to make sentences negative or interrogative, therefore do and does are used to make sentences negative and interrogative.

Present Indefinite Negative Sentences:

1. I do not play cricket.

2. We do not play cricket.

3. You do not play cricket. (Singular)

4. You do not play cricket.(Plural)

5. He does not play cricket.

6. She does not play cricket.

7. It does plays cricket.

8. They do not play cricket.

9. John does not play cricket.

10. Boy does not go to school.

11. Girl does not make tea.

Remember:

He, she, it, name and singular common noun takes does not to make sentence negative and drop "'s'" or "'es'" of the first form of the verb in Present Indefinite Tense.

Present Indefinite Interrogative Sentences:

Place do or does in the beginning of sentence to make sentence Interrogative.

1. Do I play cricket?

2. Do We play cricket?

3. Do you play cricket? (Singular)

4. Do you play cricket?(Plural)

5. Does he play cricket?

6. Does she play cricket?

7. Does it play cricket?

8. Do they play cricket?

9. Does John play cricket?

10. Does he go to school?

11. Does girl make tea?

Present Indefinite Interrogative Negative Sentences:

Place do or does in the beginning of sentence and not after the subject to make sentence Interrogative negative; as,

1. Do I not play cricket?

2. Do We not play cricket?

3. Do you not play cricket? (Singular)

4. Do you not play cricket? (Plural)

5. Does he not play cricket?

6. Does she not play cricket?

7. Does it not play cricket?

8. Do they not play cricket?

9. Does John not play cricket?

10. Does he not go to school?

11. Does girl not make tea?
