Pronoun

Definition:

A Pronoun is a word used instead of a noun. ( means for a noun).

Or
A Pronoun is a word used in place of a noun to avoid its repetition; as:
1.Maria is a good girl. Mother sees Maria doing home work.

2. Maria has Maria's book in Maria's hand

In first example Maria has been used two times and in second example Maria is used again and again. To avoid repetition we use pronoun.
1. Maria is a girl. Her mother sees her doing home work.

2. She has her book in her hand.
